Ingredient facts:
  • Milk Thistle Extract (Silymarin): Silibinin, the main component of Silymarin, has a strong affinity for the cytochrome P450 enzymes. These enzymes are produced by the liver and are the main constituents the liver uses to break down and eliminate toxins. Milk Thistle therefore stimulates the regeneration of the liver and also protects the liver from the toxic effects of many poisons.
  • Kudzu Vine (Pueraria lobata) due to its Isoflavonoid content, is responsible for lowering blood alcohol levels, and also for decreasing voluntary alcohol ingestion by influencing areas of the central nervous system that control the desire for alcohol. Kudzu therefore would be of potential benefit to alcoholics attempting to reduce their alcohol consumption. Kudzu may also facilitate the elimination of acetaldehyde from the body thereby accelerating recovery from hangovers.
  • NAC (N-Acetyl-Cysteine) protects the liver from damage from Advanced Glycation End products (AGEs) and the effects of a high-fat diet. NAC increases production of the antioxidant glutathione in the liver, which helps to break down toxins.
  • Alpha lipoic acid is a powerful antioxidant. Research has shown Alpha lipoic acid to be useful in the treatment of liver toxicity caused by toxins such as alcohol, poisons and pollutants.
  • Dandelion Root Extract increases phase I and phase II detoxification enzymes in the liver. It also has a positive effect on antioxidant enzymes and lipid profiles.
  • Due to the Inulin content of Dandelion Root, research has shown that it may alleviate congestion of the liver, and enhance liver function and therefore be of benefit in alleviating jaundice and hepatitis. Dandelion also functions as a cholagogue by also stimulating the release of stored bile from the gallbladder and may therefore alleviate constipation and gallstones.
  • Green Tea Extract: Green Tea is a powerful antioxidant containing a group of polyphenols known as catechins. One catechin in particular – Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) – has been shown to inhibit the promotion stage of chemical carcinogenesis in the liver, and reduce levels of enzymes required for cancer cell growth.
  • Vitamin B1 concentrates in the liver. Many cirrhosis patients are found to be deficient in Vitamin B1.
  • Vitamin B1 may also help reduce alcohol cravings.
